Sitakunda eco park has a very important and ancient history, which includes the gifts from many religious people. Once, a wise man named Bhargava created a pond called Kunda for Sita Devi to bathe in while her husband, Lord Ramchandra, was living in exile in the forests. From that place, it was called Sitakunda. Sitakunda was ruled by different Buddhist and Muslim rulers from Bengal in the East. It helps people explore the three major religions in the country.

It was established in 2001 on a large area of land known as Chandranath hills which measures 808 hectares or 1997 sections of land. It is created for the general recovery of nature, to protect different types of plants and animals, to build new areas for people to live, and to promote tourism based on nature in order to generate income.

The park is spread over an area of 405 hectares (1001 acres) and the garden covers 403 hectares (996 acres) in the Baridhala Range of Chittagong Forest Division.
Natural pine tree species like podocarpus neriifolin. Different kinds of Gnetum and Cycas have grown in this place. Fishing cat, Orangutan, Monkey, bear, deer, pig, and manis crass caudatan are different types of animals lives there in a harmony.

There are 150 different kinds of flowers, including 35 types of roses, 1,500 types of trees, some of which have medicinal properties, and 100 different kinds of Orchids. We have constructed a new greenhouse here. There are three springs in this location. The springs look nice when it’s raining.

There was no park or other area for recreation because there were so few residential spaces. Due to this period, Sitakunda Eco Park, an eco-park and botanical garden, was constructed. It is Chittagong’s primary business center and its first Eco-Park.

The Sitakunda Eco-Park is more than just a small piece of the forest. The popular religious site of the Chandranath Mondir (Temple) is also located on one of these hills, attracting many devotees and tourists. Home of many gushing waterfalls, the Eco-park was developed for the set purpose of conserving bio-diversity and encouraging tourism.

The aim of Sitakunda Eco-Park is to protect the inherited pool of plants and preserve ecological balance. It also creates physical infrastructure for tourists and opportunities for students and researchers. Each there are many visitors come to visit this place.

The entry fee is only 10 BDT to per head but for educational institutions for every 100 people have to pay 100 BDT entry fee only. But for this, we have to inform before coming.
